Sunday's Worship PreviewSunday, July 4th Worship Read Mark 6: 1-13 In the gospel story, Jesus’ homecoming is less than well-received. His fame had not led to changing the hearts and minds of the people who knew him growing up. Instead, his hometown dishonors him relegating him to someone they think they know and limiting his prophetic witness. As we return to in-person worship this Sunday on July 4th (a holiday commemorating the homeland), what does it mean for us to worship in a familiar place and yet to not be tempted to domesticate Jesus’ rule and power over our lives and the life of this world? Looking forward to seeing once again our brothers and sisters in Christ. |
Sunday Worship ScheduleRegathering Worship on July 4th Watch a REGATHERING VIDEO In-person and livestream worship inside the sanctuary begins on July 4th! Join us on this Independence Day to celebrate freedom in Christ as we regather inside our sacred space after many months. We give thanks for the opportunities to have stayed connected to the Lord and one another in worship in our parking lot worship, outside on the front lawn, and in our homes. For our summer schedule we will offer one worship time to keep us all connected together at 10am. Beginning on 7/4:

Peace website
As many of you know, Pastor Jake’s email was hacked last week and some members of Peace received a suspicious email asking for funds. The email was not from him. Unfortunately, in our digital world, hackers target public emails of trust like pastors and try to scam kind-hearted people. Due to this recent hack, we are taking added precautions to prevent this type of thing from happening again. One of the steps we have taken is to remove the Peace Membership Directory from the website. Although the Directory was "password protected," hackers today have the techniques to break passwords and gain access to information. If you would like a printed version of the Directory, please contact the Peace office, or we can email you a copy of the Directory. Meanwhile, we are exploring a secure App for your smartphone as a convenient way to provide Directory information to members of the Peace congregation and we will keep you updated on our progress.

Take a SeatDuring the month of July Would you like to help a musician with worship? Peace Lutheran is looking for youth in the congregation who would like to TAKE A SEAT! sitting next to either Jeannie or Marianne during worship while we play the piano. You would be able to help us get our music for the worship service in order by going through the bulletin together, handing the music to us so we can be ready to play at the appropriate time, and possibly even turn pages. We also occasionally need someone to chase down the music that the wind blows off the keyboard. If this describes you, please contact: Marianne Gould, Director of Music Ministry, at marianne@peacenb.org. We will get you signed up to TAKE A SEAT! |
Peace Prayer Clusters
Our Care Team joined together pondering how might we engage our community life together in this in-between time of pandemic “physical distancing” and our building renovation and returning to in-person activity. We want to begin with an intentional time of prayer connecting us to the Lord. Because when we are connected to God, we are naturally connected to God’s community. Therefore, we have divided the congregation into clusters of five households and are asking you to pray for each family in your cluster during the month of June and know that they will also be praying for you. Do you need to know these families? No, but feel free to contact them and introduce yourself. What do you pray for? You can simply lift up their names to God and trust that God knows their needs. You can get to know your cluster and ask specifically what needs you can share. What do I do if I haven’t received a prayer cluster invitation? Contact the church office at office@peacenb.org or 830-620-0618 and we can add you to our mailing list. Trust that we are brothers and sisters in Christ and that God is connecting us in deep ways through our prayers. I hope this deepens your prayer life and connections to God’s people. |

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
