Sunday's PreviewPrepare the Way Read Luke 3: 1-6 As we enter the 2nd Sunday in Advent, we draw closer to the coming of the Christ on Christmas. John the Baptist like the prophets of old prepares the way for the people to see God’s action. Preparing the way doesn’t necessarily mean “do more”. Quite the contrary! In our obsession to create Christmas on our own terms, or happiness, or whatever the latest human pursuit we find ourselves preoccupied with, we muddy the waters of what God is already doing. Advent allows us to simply empty ourselves, so that God can fill that holy space and remind us with God there is always enough. Join us on Sunday to hear the message of Advent and preparing the way. |
Wednesday Advent SeriesMaking Room You may purchase a copy of the book "Making Room" by Ed Robb HERE Learn how to make room in your heart for God and neighbor this Christmas. Often our Advent preparations have an inward focus as we prepare for the significance of God breaking into our world through the birth of the Christ child. But in a closer examination of the Advent story, we quickly learn that the focus of the coming of the newborn king is outward. Join us as we explore the warmth of welcome at Christmas following interactions with Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and the magi. Just as Jesus made room in God’s kingdom for a host of people who society wanted to leave on the margins, beginning with the appearance of the shepherds, we too should be asking ourselves who we can make room for this Christmas. Perhaps it is to the people in your community, or the newly immigrated family in town that doesn’t speak your language. Or maybe it’s the next-door neighbor who just settled in from yet another corporate move? The story of Christ’s birth encourages us to widen our borders and increase our sense of community—and make room for others. The Longest Night WorshipTuesday, December 21 @ 6:30pm The Longest Night is a worship service on December 21st commemorating the longest night of the year in which the sun shines the least. The winter solstice (12/21) reminds us that the day is short and for many in this happy season, it can be painful. It acknowledges that Christmas can be a time of loneliness, sorrow, alienation, and sadness. This service offers a way for people to claim those feelings and still feel surrounded by the compassionate love of God. Join us on December 21st at 6:30pm in-person @ Peace. |
Christmas Eve Worship
Christmas is the greatest gift of God to the world – the very presence of Jesus in our world. There are few if any more wondrous traditions than gathering together and hearing the story of Jesus’ birth coming into our world anew and experiencing the joy of Christ’s holy presence. Join us on Christmas Eve at 5pm or 7:30pm for candlelight worship as we celebrate the coming of the Christ-child. |

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
