Sunday's PreviewFear of Mortality Unafraid Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times We live in uncertain times unable to predict what the future will bring. This leads to anxiety and fear which if we remain in a perpetual state, we become captive to it. Sickness, aging, and dying are a part of the human experience. We all face our mortality knowing that we are vulnerable. This fear especially in the midst of a pandemic can be debilitating and lead to hopelessness. Join us for our final week of learning what it means to live Unafraid living in God’s kingdom and exploring what it means to be mortal, and yet to fully trust that God is the God of life. |

Peace DialoguesSunday, October 18 @ 12PM Join us for our third discussion in a series of "Peace Dialogues" via Zoom on Sunday, October 18, from noon to 1:00pm. During our conversations together, several facilitators will guide us as we explore what it means to listen compassionately, and discuss what it means to engage in loving, peaceful, productive dialogue even in the midst of disagreement. For this Sunday’s "Peace Dialogues" we will be using material from the Kaleidescope Institute titled, “Race and Children”. We will examine how perception of race begins in childhood, and how developing awareness of these influences can help us become more sensitive and responsive to issues surrounding race as adults.

Thrivent WebinarOctober 29 at 6:30PM Living Generously: See a need? Learn more about how you cn make it happen! Join us October 29th for a webinar with Thrivent. This is for everyone: members of Thrivent as well as those who would like to learn more. Did you know Thrivent has distributed more than $370 million through Thrivent Choice charitable grants in the last ten years? Did you know you could have a voice in determining where that money goes? Action Teams are a great way to fund ministry events. Do you see a need in the church or the community and you would like to help but you need a little kickstart? Did you know eligible Thrivent members can apply for two Action Team grants each year? There are some of us who are members of Thrivent but are not aware of the opportunities to direct charitable outreach funds Thrivent distributes each year. Imagine the possibilities if we work together to put our ideas and resources together! Not a member of Thrivent but have ideas? Let's collaborate and make it happen! Bradley Dean with Heart of Texas Thrivent will be presenting the webinar. Some of you have met Bradley at Peace. He and his dad, Danny, provided meat and supplies for our last church picnic. Save the date, October 29th at 6:30 pm. More questions? Contact Bradley's office at 210-735-1130 or Robbi Will at 210-412-7573. |
