Sunday's PreviewEncouragement in Discouraging Times We all know what it feels like to be discouraged. If we had to come up with a vocabulary list of words to describe the year 2020, “discouraging” would probably be pretty close to the top of this list for many, if not most of us. As Christians, we are not immune to being discouraged. We are human beings, after all. The apostle Paul knew this when he wrote to the newly established Christian community in Thessalonica. He reminds them (and us) that we have two powerful antidotes to discouragement: hope in God’s eternal promises, and a community to encourage us in discouraging times. This Sunday we will hear much needed words of encouragement, not just for ourselves, but for our hurting world, and ways we can be ambassadors of encouragement to those around us. |
Paired Up
Click HERE for a video message Jesus had a way of sending his disciples out in pairs. He gathered a small community and build a coalition pouring out his spirit in them . They became the church and it grew deep and wide. The Apostle Paul would follow in the same tradition as a missionary with a colleague who joined him. Our faith lives are not meant to be a solo sport. We need one another especially in difficult times. Join Pastor Jake and Bill Purcell as they reflect on the ways we experience crisis and how Stephen Ministers can walk with you. |
Stewardship 2021
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by the Son all things were created, in heaven and on earth… all things were created through him and for him” (Colossians 1:15-16). Click HERE for a video message What is Stewardship? It is the recognition that all creation belongs to God and we are entrusted with God’s gifts to manage faithfully. Over the next few weeks we’ll hear Jesus sharing parables of staying vigilant and using our gifts for the glory of the Master. Take a moment to fill out this Online Stewardship Pledge Form Stewardship is about the mission and practice of our faith together. The gifts of your heart, mind, soul, and strength ensure that God’s mission is shared. Jesus answered, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Mark 12:30 This year we ask you to reimagine what you are passionate about and envision how you might grow in this time of change. Together as God’s church, we continue to reimagine how we might use our gifts in new ways to stay connected and to connect others to the deep, vibrant love of God. A congregational mailer will be sent out in addition to this e-blast, but please consider your gifts for ministry as the church. You can fill them out online or return the mailer by Nov. 15th. We dedicate our gifts before the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 22nd. God indeed entrusts us with His gifts of creation. How will you manage, tend, and multiply the gifts for the kingdom of God? |
