Sunday's Worship PreviewName of Jesus The Christmas season continues in the new year with Mary and Joseph still at the stable surrounded by angels and shepherds. Eight days later, they go as is the custom to have Jesus circumcised and they name him Jesus, the one who saves. Join our guest presider/preacher, Bishop Sue Briner, and begin the year anew as she bears the good news of Jesus. The Rev. Susan J. Briner of New Braunfels was elected May 6, 2018, to serve a six-year term as bishop of the Southwestern Texas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She is the first woman to serve as a bishop in the history of the three ELCA synods in Texas. She is also a fellow sister in Christ at Peace Lutheran. |

Exploring the Bible TogetherZoom Bible Study every Tuesday from 6:30pm -7:30pm **Please note: we will not be meeting on December 27 and January 3. We will resume our meeting Tuesday, January 10.**
In our “Exploring the Bible Together” study, we meet by Zoom as a small group for about 45 minutes each week. Our study covers a wide range of topics, examining more closely the history, content, context, development, message, and interpretation of the Bible. As we do this, we grow in our understanding of the relevance and application of the Bible for our lives today.
Our discussion topic for the next few weeks will be "Revelation - An Inspirational Writing": Revelation is likely the most controversial, intriguing, and also misunderstood writing in the New Testament. As our only example of ancient apocalyptic literature in the NT, it is not an easy writing for us to understand. Throughout the centuries, Revelation has also been the source of inspiration for a wide variety of art, hymns, popular music, poetry, books, and movies. We will explore Revelation as it unfolds its message of hope for us through all of its powerful (and sometimes bizarre) imagery, looking especially at all the ways that Revelation has been an inspiration to the arts.
Anyone is welcome to join us - no experience with Bible study (or even the Bible) is necessary!

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
