Peace DialoguesTHIS SUNDAY November 15, 2020 Join us this Sunday in our series of "Peace Dialogues" via Zoom on Sunday, November 15 from noon to 1:00pm. During our conversations together, several facilitators will guide us as we explore what it means to listen compassionately, and discuss what it means to engage in loving, peaceful, productive dialogue even in the midst of disagreement. This Sunday's topic is "Post-Election Dialogue". As Christians, we experience our daily lives through the lens of our faith. This includes being citizens of this country and participating in our democratic process of elections. In this Peace Dialogue, we will come together as brothers and sisters in Christ, acknowledging that we may have political and ideological differences when it comes to civic matters, but still holding fast to our common faith in Jesus. This is not about proving one side right over another, celebrating victory over defeat, or questioning the integrity of the process. Our goal for this dialogue, like all the others, is to meet on the common ground of being disciples of Jesus, share our experiences and thoughts, encourage one another, and find strength in our unity for mission in the world. For more information on "Peace Dialogues" and a link to join, visit our webpage HERE. |

Seekers and Sponges Sunday Morning ClassSunday 9:00 AM Deacon Andrew will be leading a discussion of the DVD series "How Lutherans Interpret the Bible" by Dr. Mark Allan Powell, a Lutheran pastor and Bible professor at Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, Ohio. This is a 7 session DVD series in which Dr. Powell invites you to explore seven important questions about Lutherans and the Bible. He does not prescribe “the Lutheran way" to read the Bible nor does he dismiss the way you may have come to understand the Bible. Instead Dr. Powell presents a variety of Lutheran perspectives for interpreting the Bible. Through Dr. Powell's rich discussions you will discover answers to questions you have always had about the Bible.
We will be discussing the 7 session series over the next 2 - 3 months, but you may join at any point in the series. You may review last week's Episode 4 The Bible in Context HERE. Please click HERE to preview Sunday's Episode 5 Determining Right From Wrong.

Exploring the Bible TogetherTuesday Night at 6:30 PM Join Pastor Jake Fain, Deacon Andrew More, and Pastor Paul Miller as we explore the Bible together. In the New Testament, there are 21 letters written by early Christian leaders to communities of Jesus' followers in the ancient Roman world. These letters are rich with theology and guidance for what it means to be a community of Jesus followers, but they can also be dense and hard to understand. In this video we’ll explore the literary style of ancient letter writing and show you how to trace the core ideas from a letter’s beginning all the way to its end. Go to https://bibleproject.com
Exploring The Bible Zoom Bible Study
Each Tuesday from 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm we will have an open discussion of one of the Bible Project videos. This week it will be helpful for you to watch the YouTube video of episode 19 (above) first, but not required. We’ll spend about 30 minutes unpacking the video and opening it up for questions, insights, comments, etc. This link will work for all subsequent Tuesdays, so keep it handy. Anyone is welcome to join us! No experience with Bible study (or even the Bible) is necessary! Join us as we explore the Bible together!
