Sunday's Worship PreviewThe Art of Neighboring Week 2 - The Time Barrier Read Luke 10:38-42 Mary and Martha both welcomed Jesus into their homes, but Martha missed out on the fullness of Jesus’ presence. Our lives are busy. Time can be the great enemy of loving God and loving neighbor. Jesus asks us to see time differently so that we can experience the fullness of love. Join us on Sunday as we hear the good news of God’s time for us. |

The Big GiveFundraising Begins TONIGHT! For 10 years The Nonprofit Council has been proud to present Big Give, a 24-hour online giving day that helps connect South Central Texas nonprofits with new and existing donors. Since 2014 Big Give has helped organizations raise over $40 million from over 283,000 individual donors. Big Give is your chance to raise unrestricted funds for any non-profit agency you choose to support in San Antonio and the surrounding area (Comal County and Guadalupe County included). Big Give 2023 will return for our 10th anniversary of fundraising success on Wednesday September 20 at 6 PM thru Thursday September 21 at 6 PM. To start giving, go to www.thebiggivesa.org. This year we will once again be featuring our Match Minutes which allow your donors to effectively double their donations throughout the day. For one minute several times during the 24-hour period, your dollars will be matched up to $100 until either the match funds run out of the minute expires. These match minutes are as follows: Wednesday 9/20: 6:10pm, 7:10pm, 8:10pm, 9:10pm, or 10:10pm Additionally, the McKenna Foundation will match funds for 5 minutes for any non-profit agency who has received a grant through them. Their 5-minutes times are: Wednesday 9/20 11:10-11:15pm What causes speak to your passions? More than likely, there is a non-profit agency which is close to your heart and is participating in the Big Give who could use your help. Whether you give $5 or $500, your support ensures non-profit agencies can continue serving your community. Get involved and be a Big Give Giver! |

Office Administrator
Peace says goodbye and a job well done to our fabulous Office Admin, Elizabeth Hoenemeyer, who served faithfully in that position for the past four years. Her presence in the office was a bulwark of stability keeping things moving and communicated in times of serious transition. During her tenure we experienced covid and the flooding of the building in which she helped moved our congregation into a digital platform/ministry and kept a strong, centralized messaging system. While we lament Elizabeth’s departure, we celebrate her next chapter of life. She has been gracious to extend training and support as we onboard a new person over the coming weeks. It is with great excitement we announce that Madison Clark brings her gifts to fulfill this important role as our new Office Admin. Madison has a breadth of experience primarily as a dancer including stints on the Carnival Cruise line as a stage manager. Currently Madison continues to teach dance & yoga classes in various locations and lead us in office admin work at Peace. Additionally, Madison is a daughter of the congregation, baptized and raised at Peace. We are grateful and hopeful for the gifts she will be to this community. Her email and phone contact will continue to be the same as Elizabeth’s: office@peacenb.org & church # 830-620-0618. |

Peace Ministries
SEEKERS AND SPONGES: meets on Sunday mornings @ 8:30AM in-person and ZOOM Seekers and Sponges has started a "Study Curriculum on Civic Life and Faith." The ELCA Task Force on Studies for Civic Life and Faith has released a study curriculum for use throughout our church as we engage the question, what does it mean to be a Christian in civic life. The study invites participants to delve into the nature of politics, the meaning of the Scriptures, the purpose of government, the responsibility of congregations and church-related organizations, First Amendment issues, the relationship of faith-based living and civic life, connections between worship life and serving neighbor in society, the nature of citizenship, and other relevant topics. Printed materials will be available in the classroom or you may access the material at www.elca.org/civics and faithstudy In our class, everyone in our group becomes a teacher for one another, sharing experiences and perspectives that facilitates a respectful, enlightening approach to adult learning. Please join us in the multimedia classroom at the end of the hallway. You will find the discussion engaging, insightful, and challenging, and it will expand how you look at your faith! Click HERE to join by Zoom. PEACE PRAYER MINISTRY: Did you make any resolutions for the New Year? We have experienced some amazing, answered prayers this year and we have given comfort to many of our members in their times of distress. Please consider being a part of our Prayer Ministry in this new year. You can email me at beckyvoges@yahoo.com for more information. Our weekly Prayer Group Zooms every Monday at 9:00 am via Zoom only. Click HERE to join by Zoom. We have a devotion, share prayer requests and pray over each request. The group is led by Becky Voges. Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
