Sunday's Preview
Read John 1:43-51 In John’s gospel, Jesus’ ministry begins with the call of disciples, who then bring others to Jesus. Philip’s friend Nathanael moves from skepticism to faith when he accepts the invitation to “Come and see.” Have you ever been a skeptic and not fully understood what it means to be a Christian? Have you ever met someone who is? The Bible is chok full of them including the original disciples. Just as Nathanael was invited long ago, you too are invited to “Come and see” this Messiah Jesus firsthand. |

Prayer - Confession
Click HERE for a video message Join Deacon Terry Westerman and Pastor Jake Fain as they introduce the A C T S model of prayer. This week we explore prayer as Confession. In the Lord’s Prayer we pray “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.” Part of prayer is approaching God and emptying our own sinful self-will, so that we might be ready to be filled with forgiveness and the freedom to live fully for God’s wants and desires.

Weekly COVID-19 Update
We continue in Phase 1 of our Regathering Guidelines as hospitalization percentage moves over 20%. Comal county has now moved into limiting businesses to 50% occupancy as well. On a positive note, COVID cases in our congregation continue to stabilize. We are tracking members that we are aware of that have tested positive to date: · 6 active cases – one in ICU, one recovering at home and one in rehab
If you have tested positive or know of anyone within our congregation that has tested positive, please notify the church promptly. We will be doing contract tracing and let others know of who might be at risk. In this map you will see the highlighted area, Area P. This is an exceptionally large area which includes San Antonio. The current statistics as of January 13, 2021: Hospitalizations: 22.88% this number continues to rise in our area. There's expectation that the positivity rate will continue to climb through January. The Peace Regathering Team will be monitoring the daily COVID statistics and will continue to advise the church council on changes that impact our in-person worship services and church community. Our Peace Regathering Guidelines are modeled after the State of Texas opening guidelines. Instead of using active cases, which have proven to be difficult to gauge, we are monitoring the percentage of hospitalizations. |
Invitation to Peace DialoguesSunday, January 17 at 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM Listen Compassionately, Engage Lovingly, & Dialogue Peacefully 2021: "Through Christ There Is Hope" Join us for facilitated conversation from 12:30pm-1:30pm on Zoom as we wrestle with what it means to be church together in a complex world.
Peace Dialogues is designed as a safe, grace-filled place for our church community to discuss various topics of inequality and injustices in our world today. Through dialogue with one another we hope to gracefully explore challenging and sometimes controversial topics in our search to see God's plan and hear God's call more clearly.
This Sunday we will set our focus on 2021. Following a challenging 2020, a year that included illness, isolation, high-unemployment, hunger, and the death of George Floyd that triggered worldwide protests, and an extremely shocking start to 2021 as we witnessed an assault on our country’s Capitol, we will focus on our hopes and plans for 2021. For through Christ there is hope. We will discuss and explore what we can do as Christians as we listen for and navigate God's call.

Exploring the Bible TogetherZoom on Tuesdays @ 6:30PM Luke-Acts Episode 8 Paul's Missionary Journeys Acts 13-20 Join Pastor Jake Fain, Deacon Andrew More, and Pastor Paul Miller as we explore the Bible together. We are currently discussing a Luke-Acts series of videos. The books of Luke and Acts are actually two accompanying works by the same author. Together, they form one cohesive narrative about the life and ministry of Jesus and the birth of the early Church. Check out this week's episode by clicking on the title above to view Episode 8 Paul's Missionary Journeys Acts 13-20. What was it like for the apostle Paul to travel around the Roman Empire announcing the good news about the risen Jesus? What drove him to plant new Jesus communities in city after city, and how did people respond to his message? If you would like to watch last week's episode Luke-Acts Episode 7 The Apostle Paul Acts 8-12, click HERE. Go to https://bibleproject.com Exploring The Bible Zoom Bible Study
Each Tuesday from 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm we will have an open discussion of one of the Bible Project videos. This week it will be helpful for you to watch the YouTube video of Luke-Acts Episode 8 above first, but not required. We’ll spend about 30 minutes unpacking the video and opening it up for questions, insights, comments, etc. This link will work for all subsequent Tuesdays, so keep it handy. Anyone is welcome to join us! No experience with Bible study (or even the Bible) is necessary! Join us as we explore the Bible together!
