Sunday’s Preview – Servant Love

Sunday’s Preview – Servant Love

Read John 13

What does real love look like?

In John 13, Jesus shocks his disciples — not with power or glory — but by kneeling to wash their feet. At the very moment they expect victory, Jesus shows them humility. At the moment they dream of rising higher, Jesus goes lower.

This Sunday we’ll explore what it means to follow a Savior who serves, loves even his betrayer, and invites us into an upside-down way of life.

Come discover how the path of discipleship begins not with climbing higher… but with kneeling in love.

Dinner Church: Lenten Wednesdays

Dinner Church: Lenten Wednesdays

February 25 • March 4 • March 11 • March 18 • March 25

6pm—7:15pm Meals, Community, Discipleship, Worship

This Lent, our Dinner Church gatherings will follow the theme Hungry for Jesus. Lent reminds us that we are people who hunger—not only for food, but for meaning, forgiveness, healing, and hope. Rather than ignoring that hunger or trying to fill it ourselves, this season invites us to bring it honestly to Jesus, the Bread of Life.

We celebrate as the earliest Christians did around a table sharing our lives around the table and story of Jesus. The meal is incorporated within the worship.

Come join a new Lenten practice of community and worship time. Deepen your relationship with Jesus and his community. And be fed by the nourishment of the Spirit at work.

Mission Spotlight March 2026

Mission Spotlight March 2026

Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels

March Mission Spotlight shines on Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels.   FPGNB has been helping unhoused families since July of 2013 and Peace has been a part of this mission.  As a member church, we provide meals to families in the program for a full week several times a year.

Family Promise approaches homelessness by providing prevention services before families reach crisis.  This could be help with utilities, rent or childcare assistance among other short term, yet pressing needs.

Shelter and case management are available when a family becomes homeless. Families arrive in crisis; Family Promise helps them rebuild their lives with new skills and ongoing support. This is the stage that member churches provide an evening meal.

After securing affordable housing, stabilization programs are available to ensure they remain independent.

Family Promise coordinates with available resources in the community including state and federal programs to provide families with necessary services.

Sunday, March 22nd, a dedicated offering will be collected to benefit FPGNB.  For more information on volunteering, contact Karen Laughlin.  Please include Family Promise and their clients in your prayers.

Family Promise Rotation Sunday

March 1 thru Saturday, March 7

Our first rotation of 2026 is rapidly approaching, Sunday, March 1 thru Saturday, March 7.  There have been some staff changes with Family Promise, two new members joined the end of January and the social worker, Haven, has gone on to another position, but will remain available as needed.

I dropped by the center last week, and there are two families currently in the program. There is always the possibility that can change by the time our rotation rolls around. We get official counts and allergy information the week prior to our rotation.

In an effort to establish a bond with our families, we will host a small potluck at 6pm at Peace on Sunday, March 1st.  On the Signup Genius, note that Sunday has 8 slots for the pot luck.  For all you native Texans, Monday, March 2nd is Texas Independence Day.  If you feel like bringing your favorite Texas dish, please do. This will be very casual and will hopefully be a way for our families to see they are supported  by the Peace community.

We will continue to bring an evening meal to the Day Center, Monday thru Saturday of our rotation.  They have a full kitchen, though small and we are invited to dine with them, just be prepared for family style, possibly perched on a sofa with your plate.  Meals can be brought to the church, and I  can deliver them if that is easier.

If you are unavailable for this potluck or can’t provide a meal for this rotation, have no fear, you have 4 more opportunities this year, our next rotation will be Sunday, July 5th thru Saturday, July 11, with a potluck on July 5th at Peace.

Thanks so much for continuing this mission and making it a priority in your busy schedules.  Your prayers for our families are just as important as the meals you provide.

Peace,

Karen
