Sunday's Worship PreviewOne Shepherd, One Flock, Many Sheep In our current society, it seems like there is an ever-increasing emphasis on differences, disagreements and divisions between groups of people. We face a temptation to place people in categories of our own creation depending on how similar to us or different from us we perceive others to be. In our gospel for this Sunday, we are reminded that Jesus embraces us all equally, like a good shepherd who cares for the entire flock. The challenge for us is to see one another as Jesus sees us, as all belonging to the same flock, each one of us equally beloved and cared for by God. Our calling as followers of our good shepherd, Jesus, is to witness to the unity we share, reflecting the abounding love we receive from God in our relationships with others. |

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
