Stewardship Snippet - May 16, 2021
“As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.”
John 17: 18
Jesus prayerfully sent his disciples into the world knowing the challenges that awaited them. Likewise, our elders steward us into the world with prayer, love, and hope. They know the difficulties that await; yet they send us on as God’s beloved children first and always.

Peace Dialogues - May 16, 2021 @ 12:30pm -1:30pm"Meeting In The Middle" During his acceptance speech of the 2021 Jean Herscholt Humanitarian Award at this year’s Academy Awards, Tyler Perry (actor, director, producer, screenwriter) talks about the importance of “refusing hate” and learning to “meet one another in the middle, in our common humanity”. For our Peace Dialogue this month we will watch Tyler’s acceptance speech and consider what it means to us individually and as the church to refuse hate and meet others “in the middle”. Watch the video: Tyler Perry Humanitarian Award Speech As we consider this question, we will also look to scripture, to the example of Jesus, to see how his ministry teaches us as Christians to refuse hate and to meet others in the middle. Jesus is constantly faced with pressures to follow others’ agenda; to draw a line in the sand; and pick a side. Instead, he chooses a third way. In a world that tries to divide things into this or that, Jesus offers us an alternative vision and path to walk together in faith. (Excellent reading by author and theologian Walter Wink titled Jesus' Third Way) Join us on Zoom Sunday, May 16, from 12:30pm-1:30pm for our monthly conversation. 2021 Flower Sign up
Each Sunday a beautiful arrangement of fresh flowers, donated by members and friends of the congregation, adorns the cross in the chancel area of Peace Lutheran Church. A contract with “Petals To Go” Florist in New Braunfels assures timely delivery, quality, and consistency in the arrangements at a very reasonable cost of $40 per arrangement. Flowers may be donated for occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries, in honor or in memory of a loved one, or simply ”To the Glory of God!” While we worship with St. Andrew in Canyon Lake, the arrangement will be taken to the altar there and then brought back to Peace after worship. The arrangement may be picked up at the church during office hours the following week. For questions, please contact Kathi Anderson (210) 643-8855, the Flower Coordinator for the Worship Team. To sign up for flower donations, click the button below or go to the sign up button at the bottom of Peace's homepage at peacenb.org

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
