Stewardship Snippet - December 19, 2021
" And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they shall live secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth; and he shall be the one of peace."
Micah 5: 4
Peace is the theme for the fourth Sunday of Advent. We remember that Jesus is, as Micah says, “the one of peace,” the shepherd who cares for us, his flock. Steward/disciples draw near to Jesus and find peace in him.

The Longest Night WorshipTuesday, December 21 @ 6:30pm The Longest Night is a worship service on December 21st commemorating the longest night of the year in which the sun shines the least. The winter solstice (12/21) reminds us that the day is short and for many in this happy season, it can be painful. It acknowledges that Christmas can be a time of loneliness, sorrow, alienation, and sadness. This service offers a way for people to claim those feelings and still feel surrounded by the compassionate love of God. Join us on December 21st at 6:30pm in-person @ Peace. |
Christmas Eve Worship
Christmas is the greatest gift of God to the world – the very presence of Jesus in our world. There are few if any more wondrous traditions than gathering together and hearing the story of Jesus’ birth coming into our world anew and experiencing the joy of Christ’s holy presence. Join us on Christmas Eve at 5pm or 7:30pm for candlelight worship as we celebrate the coming of the Christ-child. For more infomation visit:

Seekers and Sponges Sunday Morning ClassMeeting @ 8:30 AM In-person and Zoom Join Seekers and Sponges on Sunday at 8:30am. - in-person @ Peace and on Zoom. Seekers and Sponges will continue our series Luther: Gospel, Law, and Reformation. This lecture deals with the inner context for understanding Luther's experience of the gospel. Our discussion each Sunday will be preceded by a video lecture given by Phillip Cary, Professor at Eastern University. Cary points out that while Martin Luther was only one man - a humble monk and Bible professor - he sparked a religious rebellion that changed the course of history. Who was he? What made his theology so explosive in 16th-century Europe? How did this late-medieval man launch the Protestant Reformation and help create the modern world as we know it? And how should we think of him: hero or heretic, rebel or tormented soul? Please join us for a discussion following the DVD lecture. We will be meeting in person at Peace and also by Zoom. Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
