Sunday's PreviewWhat is Baptism? Read Luke 3:15-17, 21-22 We celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord each year at the beginning of January. Each of the four gospels records Jesus’ baptism . For the church and for scripture, baptism is a central teaching and sacrament. But why is baptism so important? It has much to do with the public affirmation and promise received from God. Join us on Sunday to affirm your baptism and or learn more about the significance of one of God’s greatest gifts. |

There is no age or grade requirement – everyone is welcome! Whether your son or daughter has never tasted the bread and wine before, or has been communing for years, you all are welcome. Lutheran Disaster ReliefU.S. Wildfires The Situation: On Dec. 30, the Marshall Fire ignited in Boulder County, Colo. Over 6,200 acres burned quickly, forcing the evacuations of 35,000 people. The fire spread throughout suburban neighborhoods, destroying at least 500 homes. While December wildfires are rare, the severe drought in the western United States created hazardous conditions that allowed the Marshall Fire to spread rapidly. This unusual fire is one of the impacts of a changing climate and will become increasingly more common. Our Response: Lutheran Disaster Response is engaging with the Rocky Mountain Synod and Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains to respond to the impact of the fires. We anticipate that immediate needs will include emotional and spiritual care, temporary shelters, food and other necessities. With local partners, Lutheran Disaster Response will continue to accompany survivors throughout the years of long-term recovery. For ways to support those affected by the wildfire click HERE |

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
