Sunday's Worship PreviewJourney with Paul Paul’s final years brings him to face his own death and Christian martyrdom in Rome. During this time he fearlessly continues to proclaim the good news of Jesus even to the imperial powers who hold his life in their hands. Join us in worship on Sunday at 10am as we explore Paul’s final leg of the journey and how his faith in Christ transcended any fear in death. |

Journey with Paul Overview
It can be reasonably argued no other human being apart from Jesus himself, has had a greater impact on the world than the Apostle Paul. Thirteen of the twenty-seven books of the New Testament are attributed to him, and one half of the Acts of the Apostles centers on his story. Today, one-third of the world’s population to his writings for spiritual direction, and ethical guidance. Paul, however, is a complex figure. Originally a persecutor of the early Christian movement, his spiritual encounter with Jesus transformed his life into the instrument of God’s mission to the world. Dedicating his life to following this resurrected Lord, Paul journeyed across land and sea to build communities and share the gospel message to the far reaches of the known world. This Fall, you are invited to journey with Paul and walk with him to experience the depth of faith and the missionary call we all have to both be transformed and to transform the world through the gospel of Jesus. Each week we will walk in Paul’s footsteps as we seek to hear that voice of Jesus calling us to be in mission with him. 9/18 Called to Follow Christ - click HERE for study guide In conjunction with this special worship series, I will offer a conversational Bible Study each Sunday in the Fellowship Hall from 8:45am-9:30am. Study guides will be shared weekly in the e-blast (click link above) and on Peace's website if you would like to host your own study or use for personal devotions. |

MayaWorks & BreakfastSunday, November 20 Come join us for a full breakfast at 8:30am - 9:30am and do some shopping afterward. MayaWorks will set up their artisanal products for sale in the Narthex. Today MayaWorks partners with over 125 artisans in six communities along the Central Highlands of Guatemala. The organization has two offices, one in Guatemala staffed by local women who work directly with the artisans and one in Chicago that distributes and markets the product. MayaWorks helps women transform their skills into a means of financial support for their families by creating a market for the traditional arts of Maya artisans. Textile products are distributed within wholesale and retail markets and are also sold by U.S. women in their local communities. At its core, MayaWorks is about creating work for women so that they can financially support their families and become fully contributing members of their communities. Giving Guatemalan women an opportunity to earn an income from their skills gives them self-confidence and hope for themselves, their families and their communities. For U.S. women, reaching across borders to give a hand up to help women in developing countries allows them to participate in economic justice on a global level. For more information about MayaWorks visit their website @ www.mayaworks.org |

Exploring the Bible TogetherZoom Bible Study every Tuesday from 6:30pm -7:30pm In our “Exploring the Bible Together” study, we meet by Zoom as a small group for about 45 minutes each week. Our study covers a wide range of topics, examining more closely the history, content, context, development, message, and interpretation of the Bible. As we do this, we grow in our understanding of the relevance and application of the Bible for our lives today.
Our discussion topic for the next few weeks will be "Revelation - An Inspirational Writing": Revelation is likely the most controversial, intriguing, and also misunderstood writing in the New Testament. As our only example of ancient apocalyptic literature in the NT, it is not an easy writing for us to understand. Throughout the centuries, Revelation has also been the source of inspiration for a wide variety of art, hymns, popular music, poetry, books, and movies. We will explore Revelation as it unfolds its message of hope for us through all of its powerful (and sometimes bizarre) imagery, looking especially at all the ways that Revelation has been an inspiration to the arts.
Anyone is welcome to join us - no experience with Bible study (or even the Bible) is necessary!

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
