“Rooted in God - Created for Connection”

Sunday begins our Sabbatical series, “Rooted and Reaching - Deepening faith (spirituality), strengthening homes (family), and impacting others (community).” This twelve week series parallels Pastor Jake’s sabbatical journey and gives us a sabbatical journey -both personal and congregational – for our own rest and renewal. Just as Pastor Jake begins his time with a focus on scripture and spiritual practice, we begin four weeks of “Inner Journey” with the focus on our relationship with God. This Sunday we will worship and center ourselves on the the topic “Rooted in God - Created for Connection” based on the scripture in Genesis 1:26-28a. And we will think on such questions as: What is spirituality? How is your connection to God? What are your spiritual practices? What are ideas and practices that can help make that connection stronger?

I am very much looking forward to examining these topics and sharing them with you in sermons and conversations. Come and begin this exciting adventure with us. Then stay for the potluck (it’s a 5th Sunday!) to share another meal with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Blessings on your week. Hope to see you Sunday! Pastor Judi

Mission Spotlight June 2026

Mission Spotlight June 2026

Eagle Pass Frontera Ministries is a nonprofit ministry organization located at the margins of the Rio Grand in Eagles Pass, Texas. As a border ministry of the Southwestern Texas Synod and in partnership with the local congregation - Iglesia Luterana San Lucas - our mission is grounded in the values of love, compassion and solidarity. We are committed to embodying a beloved community where God’s love knows no borders and where regardless of nationality or language, people are always treated with dignity and respect.

As a border community, Eagle Pass regularly experiences the movement of people fleeing from violence in their homelands and seeking new beginnings. Facing overwhelming dangers, their journeys are marked by stories of deep loss, tested resilience and persistent hope. Embracing these human realities, Eagle Pass Frontera Ministries responds with the ever-present and passionate compassion described in Matthew 25:34-40. By offering hospitality and serving the needs of the most vulnerable, we are also seeing and serving Jesus himself.

Eagle Pass Frontera Ministries relies on the generosity of our mission companions throughout our Southwestern Texas Synod. Thanks to such generosity, TOGETHER we continue offering daily essentials such as clothing, shoes, backpacks, warm meals, water, hygiene kits, spiritual care and hospitality to vulnerable neighbors who experience displacement and navigate challenging transitional journeys.

Financial gifts for Eagle Pass Frontera Ministries can be made through our local congregation or by giving directly to Eagle Pass Frontera Ministries: If donating directly, make check payable to Eagle Pass Frontera Ministries and mail in attention to Emma Espino, PO Box 1247, Eagle Pass, TX 78852-5661. We praise and thank God for your life-giving generosity!
