Jesus encounters a man who was born blind, and almost immediately the questions begin: Who sinned? Who’s to blame? Why did this happen?

But Jesus refuses easy answers. Instead, he opens eyes and reveals that sometimes the greatest transformations are happening right in front of us, hiding in plain sight.

We’ll explore how faith is often born not from certainty, but from disruption… how losing our footing can lead to new vision… and how Jesus continues to invite us, again and again, to come and see.

This Lent, our Dinner Church gatherings will follow the theme Hungry for Jesus. Lent reminds us that we are people who hunger—not only for food, but for meaning, forgiveness, healing, and hope. Rather than ignoring that hunger or trying to fill it ourselves, this season invites us to bring it honestly to Jesus, the Bread of Life.

We celebrate as the earliest Christians did around a table sharing our lives around the table and story of Jesus. The meal is incorporated within the worship.

Come join a new Lenten practice of community and worship time. Deepen your relationship with Jesus and his community. And be fed by the nourishment of the Spirit at work.

Once again, our church family has completed a year of giving and supporting the families that are experiencing homelessness in the Family Promise program.  The program is evolving and currently the families are remaining at the Day Center, with us bringing the evening meal to them. 

Due to space limitations at the Center, dining with them can be a little crowded, so we are planning to provide a small potluck, the first Sunday of our rotation, at Peace Lutheran.  This will give us an opportunity to get to know them, and allows them to see that Peace is invested in helping them succeed. 

The program is going through a growth phase, with a new Social Worker coming on board the end of January, as well as two other new staff members.  Our next rotation is set for Sunday,  March 1^st thru Saturday, March 7.  Watch for information, as it becomes available in future Eblasts and posters in the Narthex as Family Promise grows and addresses the needs of the unhoused in our community. 

Tentatively, our potluck will occur on Sunday, March 1^st.  Let me know if you are interested in taking part.

Our Mission Spotlight is Spirit of Sharing (SOS) Food Bank. In 1988 a single church started SOS, over time, many other churches and service organizations have partnered to continue the mission.

Spirit of Sharing is dedicated to preventing hunger in our community. They offer an emergency food supply for anyone and require only a photo ID. This service is limited to once every six months, but clients requiring emergency help are encouraged to join a monthly allotment program if the need persists.

The monthly allotment program provides food to residents of the Greater New Braunfels area who have completed the registration process.

SOS is open six days a week and Peace Lutheran is an active member church. A dedicated group meets the second Monday of each month at the Food Bank located at 250 W. Meriweather Street from 1pm to 4pm to distribute food to SOS clients.

Other opportunities to support this mission are available. The “Ugly Shopping Cart” in the Narthex collects all nonperishable food donations for the Food Bank. Prayerfully lift up this cause as it continues to follow Jesus’ mission to take care of our neighbors.
