Sunday’s Preview

The Way of Jesus: Fasting — We Fast So That We May Feast

What does going without food have to do with following Jesus? More than we might think!

This Sunday, we continue our series The Way of Jesus by exploring the often-forgotten spiritual practice of fasting. In a world that constantly encourages us to consume more, achieve more, and satisfy every desire, Jesus invites us to discover a different kind of abundance.

Fasting is a practice that helps us become more attentive to God, find freedom from the things that hold us captive, and grow in compassion for others. Sometimes, letting go of something good makes room for something even greater.

Join us Sunday as we discover how we fast so that we may truly feast on the life God offers us through Jesus Christ.

Stewardship Sunday: Practicing Generosity

Stewardship Sunday: Practicing Generosity

Over the past several months, we have been exploring what it means to follow Jesus in our everyday lives. Through The Way: Practicing the Life of Jesus, we have discovered that faith is something we live. The spiritual practices of prayer, community, service, generosity, and Sabbath help shape us into people who reflect the love of Christ in the world.

Stewardship is part of that same journey.

Everything we have—our time, our abilities, our relationships, our resources, and our very lives—is a gift from God. And each of us has been entrusted with unique gifts that can make a difference in the lives of others.

At Peace Lutheran, our mission is to love like Jesus so that each person experiences God's way. Every time we gather for worship, care for someone in need, teach our children about God's love, welcome a stranger, or serve our neighbors, we are living out that mission together.

And it happens because of the generosity and faithfulness of this congregation.

On Sunday, November 22, we will celebrate Stewardship Sunday, a special opportunity to bring our gifts before the Lord and make our commitments to the ministry we share in the coming year.

Beginning November 8, commitment cards will be available during worship and through our weekly e-news. You are invited to spend some time prayerfully reflecting on how God has blessed your life and how you might respond through your financial giving, your time, and your God-given gifts.

Then, on November 22, we will bring our commitment cards forward during worship as an act of gratitude, trust, and faith.

This is an opportunity to celebrate what God is doing among us and to look ahead with hope. Every gift matters. Every act of generosity helps us live more fully into God's vision of a world made whole through love.

Thank you for the many ways you already share your gifts through Peace Lutheran Church. I am grateful for this community and excited about the ways God continues to work through us.

Together, may we continue to grow in generosity, deepen our trust in God, and love like Jesus.

Wednesday Night Live: Growing Together in Faith & Community

Wednesday Night Live: Growing Together in Faith & Community

This fall, Wednesday Night Live is taking on a new rhythm for our middle school and high school youth! Each Wednesday beginning September 2nd, students will gather in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 5:45 p.m. for a meal and time together before splitting into Confirmation and High School groups for age-appropriate conversation, learning, and faith formation.

At the heart of this change is a simple goal: relationships take time. We want to create a consistent space where our young people can belong, build meaningful friendships, grow in their relationships with trusted adults, and explore what it means to follow Jesus in their everyday lives.

We know schedules are full, but we also believe that our young people need spaces where they can slow down, be known, ask questions, laugh, eat, pray, and discover more deeply who and whose they are. Wednesday Night Live is about making that kind of community a regular part of their week.

Middle and High School Youth — Wednesdays from 5:45 pm – 7:15 pm
Come hungry, bring a friend, and join us as we grow together in faith, friendship, and life with Jesus!
