Sunday's PreviewGuess Who is Coming to Dinner?!! Do you prepare meals or table settings differently when you are having a special guest? During this past year when Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter did not include lots of family members around the table, I decided to get out the ‘good’ dinnerware, the silver, festive placemats and set the table as if my husband and I were the special guests! I fixed all our favorite holiday foods, bought flowers for the table and made luscious, calorie-laden desserts. We enjoyed treating ourselves as guests at the table! The Bible has numerous stories about Jesus blessing bread and breaking it at table. The resurrected Jesus in the Emmaus story was only recognized when he blessed and broke bread. In this week’s text, the resurrected Jesus wants to know if the disciples have anything to eat…he’s hungry! Are you hungry…either physically or spiritually? Do you want to celebrate at Jesus’ table? Do you know others who are hungry to hear God’s invitation to the table? I think we might need to build a longer table!!! |

Exploring the Bible TogetherTUESDAYS @ 6:30pm Join Pastor Jake Fain, Deacon Andrew More, and Pastor Paul Miller as we explore the Bible together. To check out this week's episode, click on the title above. Explore the mysterious promise on page three of the Bible, that a promised deliverer would one day come to confront evil and rescue humanity. We trace this theme through the family of Abraham, the messianic lineage of David, and ultimately to Jesus who defeated evil by letting it defeat him. You may watch last week's episode Jesus: Son of Man by clicking HERE. Go to https://bibleproject.com Exploring The Bible Zoom Bible Study

Peace Dialogues - April 18, 2021 @ 12:30pm -1:30pm"The Lenses We See Through" All of us see the world and other people through cultural “filters”. These filters are based on our social and cultural background and experiences. This happens whether we are aware of it or not - it is a universal social reality, how all humans function in and make sense of society. These cultural filters can create challenges for our relationships with others, especially those whose social and cultural reality differs from ours. The people in Jesus’ day were not immune to this. There are many examples all throughout the Bible. In our Peace Dialogues this month, we will examine how Jesus teaches a different way of seeing others, through filters of faith, and how these “faith filters” can allow us to create bridges to deeper understanding, compassion, and community. Join us on Zoom Sunday, April 18th, from 12:30pm-1:30pm for our monthly conversation. For more information on "Peace Dialogues" visit our webpage HERE. |

Three Expressions of the Church
We are part of one church body organized in three expressions — congregations, synods, and the churchwide organization. Each expression has its particular functions but all three together share a common mission of doing God’s work in the world and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Together, they ensure a solid foundation of leadership, active involvement in communities, opportunities for dialogue and diverse perspectives, creative partnerships, and support for members and ministries of the ELCA.
