Peaceful Piecers: Quilts, Afghans, and Pillows

Quilters meet every Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the fellowship hall.  Each year they create 400-500 quilts sent out throughout the world via  Lutheran World Relief.

In addition to quilts, the Peaceful Piecers make afghans for Connections, a center in New Braunfels offering counseling, residential services, community education, and referral services for individuals and families, and pillows for New Life Children's Center, a residential treatment center in Canyon Lake for abused and neglected girls, ages 11-17.

New quilters are welcome, and the Piecers always need fabric and other supplies. Donations may be placed in the closet in the fellowship hall on the marked shelves.

We also participate in the Mat Ministry - The Mat Ministry is an ongoing ministry. Plastic bags are donated; then they are flattened with the ends cut off.  Next, 4 strips are cut from the bag. Then the strips are tied together to make a “plarn” ball. The last step is crocheting the plarn into a 3 foot by 6 foot mat. Finished mats are donated to the homeless via Steve’s Pantry at Gruene United Methodist Church.
